How To Get Involved With the Taleblazers Festival

To host a literary artist for Taleblazers Festival, follow these easy steps:

1. Look through the Alberta Literary Artist database on our website and find a Taleblazers presenter(s) who best suits the needs of your school or library.
   
   
2. Fill out the membership and Taleblazers Festival booking form on our website. Please ensure that you include the name and phone number of a summer contact person. This will ensure the YABS office staff can contact you with any questions or scheduling problems.
   
   
3. Return the form to YABS as soon as possible. To submit the form electronically, fill it out online and press the [submit] button at the bottom of the form. Remember, in order to participate in Talblazers Festival , your library or school must be a member of YABS. We will invoice you for the membership fee. If you do not hear back from us within 5 working days, please contact us by phone at 780-422-8232.
   
   What happens next?
   
   
4. Final arrangements will be made over the summer with YABS staff. In September, you will receive a package which contains an itinerary, detailed information on hosting a presentation, promotional information, sponsor information and an evaluation form. Please read the itinerary and other information carefully. Presenter contact information is included on the itinerary. Make sure you contact your presenter(s) prior to their visit to confirm arrangements. Call our office if you have any questions.
   
   
5. As the date of your Taleblazers Festival presentation(s) aproaches, you may want to promote the visit(s) through your local media outlets. Please contact us for more information on communicating with media. Call Dawn Ius at 780-422-8236 or email communications@yabs.ab.ca.
   
   
6. At the time of your presentation(s), we will email evaluation form(s) to you. Please complete and return them. Your comments are used by YABS staff, board, and presenters to ensure that future Taleblazer Festivals and programs are successful. We would also love to receive any photos or newspaper articles resulting from your Taleblazers visit(s).
   
   We will invoice you for your Taleblazers Festival artist's presentations shortly after the visit.
   
   
7. One last but very important item! With your evaluation form we will send a list of the organizations and companies that support the Young Alberta Book Society and the Taleblazers Festival . Please write letters of thanks to the sponsors and funders expressing the positive impact Taleblazers has had for you and the young participants. Taleblazer Festival hosts and participants expressing the value of these literary presentations is a tremedous help to us in securing funding so we can continue this great program for many years. This is the MOST IMPORTANT thing you can do for us. Thank you!
